A-Dawg’s Top 5 Of The Week

Welcome to another week of Adawg’s top 5. Nothing is better than watching the best sport of all time and seeing a goalllll!!!! It’s the best feeling in the world (besides Real Madrid demolishing Barcelona). This week I am going to list my top 5 most memorable goals.

#5 John Brooks

Let me take you back to 2014 USA vs Ghana in the World Cup. Game is tied up with only several minutes left. Zusi took the corner kick and set it up perfectly for Brooks to make the header. This goal is what gave the men’s national team momentum in the 2014 World Cup.

#4 Sergio Ramos

When I look back on all the goals Sergio Ramos scored, this goal always comes to my mind first. Real Madrid vs Barcelona in July of 2006. The ball was crossed to Sergio Ramos and he went up at the ball and the ball went upper 90 on the left corner.  It was a masterpiece. Real Madrid and Barcelona games are always a thriller and this header comes in at number 4 on my list.

#3 Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Let me bring you to Sweden vs England, England’s keeper went out of the box to head it over Ibra. Ibra dropped back and bicycle kicked the ball. They say the distance was around 30 yards. I learned a lot about soccer from this goal. First off, never take the ball to the corner and wait til the ref blows the whistle… always go for the goal. Nothing is better than dominating the other team and giving them no mercy. Zlatan’s memorable goal fall at number 3.

#2 Cristiano Ronaldo

All hail the king of the UEFA European Championship Mr. Cristiano Ronaldo. My second most memorable goal is when he became the first player to score at 4 different European championship finals. A soft cross was passed to him and he put it away nicely. While there have been more fascinating goals in the Euros this goal is very memorable. Anytime someone scores the way Ronaldo did on that goal makes me instantly think back to the Euros goal.

#1 Landon Donovan

My most memorable goal is Landon Donovan vs Algeria in the 2010 World Cup. The last-minute game winning goal is what made USA advance to the next round. Donovan’s vision was top class when he passed the ball and cut towards the middle of the box to be in position for the rebound. Watching the replay gives me chills still to this day. This goal is hands down my number 1 most memorable goal of all time.
