CHIT Picks 7/30

We have entered the final week of CHIT picks for your regularly scheduled season, we are finishing up Serie A this week but have a FA Cup Final match to give out a pick for as well. Pretty soon we will be diving back into Champions League matchup where Young Leg really thrives. Last week did not go as planned for Young Leg as the Golden Boys got relegated and Villa managed to stay up. It also looks like Grealish is about to ink a new deal at Villa so the local boy is going to stay with the Birmingham club.

FA CUP FINAL

Arsenal v. Chelsea: ARS +220, Draw +230, CHE +110         1 August, Saturday

History: Chelsea and Arsenal are both looking to cap off their respective seasons with a trophy and the FA Cup provides a perfect opportunity for either side to do so. The last time out these two sides played to a 2-2 draw and before that Chelsea won two consecutive games. The FA Cup, is Arsenal’s trophy, and if there is any game that an Arsenal player will be up for it is the FA Cup final. However Chelsea have been on fire of late and you could expect them to fight just as hard for their shot at this trophy as well.

Players to Watch: Willian has been linked to a summer move over to Arsenal so it will be interesting to see if this plays a role in how Lampard sets up the Chelsea side. Willian is a blue through and through and one would expect him to have a big impact on how this game turns out. Auba is the man to watch for Arsenal as he has turned on the scoring of late and finished just behind Vardy in the Premier League golden boot race. It could also be his last game in an Arsenal uniform as he has yet to resign with the North London club.

YL’s Pick: Arsenal ML, Aubameyang to score

SERIE A:

Atalanta v. Inter:       1 August, Saturday

History: Atalanta has been extremely impressive over the last two years and Inter have failed to beat Atalanta since 2017 which is a pretty significant gap. The last two times out this fixture has ended in a draw…typical of Italian football to say the least. Inter have struggled in recent years as we have discussed on the podcast and are finally starting to look like the Inter of old with them sitting second in the table with Atalanta trailing them by a single point. Both teams have secured a Champions League spot for next season but it will still be an awesome match to watch.

Players to Watch: For Atalanta keep your eyes on Luis Muriel who has contributed greatly during his first season at the club. Muriel is a dynamic attacking player who has bounced around a lot throughout his career but I finally think he has found a home at Atalanta. Inter will most likely rely on the Premier League core that they have established over the past two years with Lukaku and Sanchez likely to be involved in any goals for the Milan club.

YL’s Pick: Atalanta ML, Over 3.5 Goals

Roma v. Juventus:       1 August, Saturday

History: Two of the most historic clubs in Serie A matching up to end the season this weekend. Roma have lost two consecutive matches against the Turin side but are fighting for a spot in Europa League and every point matters. Roma is playing a must win game at this point and Juventus have already wrapped up the title. Who knows how Sarri will play this game out and hopefully for Juve fans it is his last match in charge of the squad. This game is always dramatic, more so when Roma and Juventus were two clubs vying for the top spot during the days of de Rossi and Totti, but rest assured it is still one of the best matchups in Italy.

Players to Watch: There has been a lot of talk swirling around the Roma camp at the moment and there could soon be a giant exile of players from the club and the board has no one but themselves to blame with the way they have treated club legends. Dzeko is the man to keep an eye on as he has not signed a new contract with the Rome club and it is expected that he will not due to wages. Juventus, all eyes should be on Ronaldo to see if he can add to his goal tally for the Turin side and become an even more prolific scorer than he already is. I do not see Juventus getting rid of him anytime soon.

YL’s Pick: Juventus -1, Ronaldo to Score

Napoli v. Lazio:       1 August, Saturday

History: The two sides have split their meetings this year with Lazio winning the first regular season matchup and Napoli beating the Rome club in their Coppa Italia meeting in late January. Napoli, once a frontrunner in challenging for the Serie A title has had an absolutely dreadful season whereas Lazio has managed to work methodically to maintain fourth place in the league. Lazio even has a shot to surpass Atalanta for the third place spot, and all that is attributed to their consistency throughout the year.

Players to Watch: Ciro Immobile, a goal-scoring machine, has been relatively quiet since the return of play and I would expect him to make an impact in the final game of the season. Over the last two years Immobile has been one of the most prolific scorers in Europe, almost at the level of Lewandowski and Ronaldo. For Napoli, one should keep an eye on Chucky Lozano, he made the transition to Napoli but has not really had the impact everyone was hoping for. Lozano is an immense talent and right now he is being wasted.

YL’s Pick: Lazio ML, Both Teams to Score
