Hey what’s going on?
It’s me your friend Young Leg, I am sitting here waiting for the Champions League anthem to grace my ear drums once again. Getting very impatient also only one game is going to be on? Really can’t stream us both….. shit tv deal.
Let’s get this going first things first we got the EPL CHAMPS Manchester City already a heavy favorite in the tournament playing Tottenham Hot Spurs. This is the biggest trophy in the eyes of Cityzens currently and it would help them towards the historic QUADRUPLE. Aguero seems to be coming back from injury just in time, Sterling in form, KDB looks like he’s back, after two great performances.
Spurs however are in a brand new stadium, are in a good spot looking at the top four, and this is the only trophy they have left. If that isn’t enough motivation they are also playing Manchester city, and how nice do you think it would be to ruin that historic run. They are going to be playing 3 times in about 9 days and Tottenham has a chance to ruin someone else’s season for once.
For me it’s gotta be Man City they just look way too good right now, the biggest problem they have besides keeping everyone healthy, is getting enough minutes for all the talent they have. Leaving Sane, Jesus, and Gundogan, on the bench seems like it’s crazy….. buttttt then you remember they have Sterling, Aguero, Silva, Silva, KDB, Fernandinho, and the list goes on. There is nothing more I would like for Spurs fans than to get so hope and beat City to lose to Juve next round but I just don’t see it.
City 3 Spurs 1
Next we got Liverpool vs. FC Porto
This one has Liverpool written all over it, but I am really hoping Porto gives us some sort of cup magic. The first leg is at Anfield which seems like it will go how most Liverpool games this year Liverpool domination. If Porto is able to get an away goal I think they should consider that a win. Iker Casillas in net and Pepe up to his old tricks they have a squad that everyone knows their role.
Liverpool is under a ton of pressure in the league and their fans expect trophies. Liverpool to me seem like the side to take care of business no Robertson for the first leg, but Virgil Van Djik will handle the back line as Liverpool continue their winning ways. Mo Salah is coming off some big games the last few matches, Porto is the perfect team for him to stat pad against.
Porto is also in the middle of a title race of their own, they are down to Benefica because of goal differential. I don’t know if they will be able to compete at the top level for both competitions, but they have some old dogs who have been here before. That being said… Liverpool in Anfield come on…
Liverpool 2 Porto 0
Next we got Ajax vs. Juve and possibly a Ronaldo return from injury. Ajax are in what I consider a golden era for them. They have plenty of talent a mix of younger, older, and some considered world class already. Dusan Tadic is leading Ajax in goals and assists in UCL while showing no signs of slowing down. He man handled Real Madrid in Madrid, now he is looking at a big order from Juventus. With the help of De Jong, De Ligt, and Neres, Ajax are looking to ruin another season.
The only reason that you wouldn’t go with Juventus in this game is because it is in Amsterdam, and Ronaldo is only a possibility. Besides that Juventus are on a tear, after a 3-0 come back from Ronaldo they are on a UCL high right now. The league side they were just a Napoli loss away from clinching the title. 18 points clear, Moise Kean inform, Pjanic inform, Dybala inform. Juventus are really, really good they always have been. This summer all they did was add the best player that has ever graced the UCL, and brought back Bonucci. Chiellini also suffered a training knock, but Juve has plenty of reserves.
This matchup is going to be awesome if we are missing Chiellini and Ronaldo. I think Ajax can take advantage at home since they have only been beaten twice there so far. I am hoping it makes the return leg THAT MUCH MORE DRAMATIC. That being said I go with the Bianconeri.
Juventus 2 Ajax 1
Finally we have a UCL classic in my 24 years it has always led to some beautiful football why should this year be any different. Barcelona vs. Manchester United.
I mean Barcelona is Barcelona, if they don’t get to at least the semi-final of the Champions League you can consider this season a failure. Lionel Messi has dominated his domestic league, and Europe in general leading the race for the European golden boot. Suarez right behind him the best of pairs up front Barcelona are looking more fierce than ever. Also shoutout Ter Stegen for saving a very weak Barcelona defense every match what a goalkeeper.
Manchester United are starting to get some of their injury problems taken care of and are back fighting for a top 4 spot. The UCL would be the last trophy available for them and given Ole Gunnar was just given a permanent deal why not start with the most coveted trophy in Europe. We see the form of Rashford, Martial, and Paul Pogba thriving under Ole. Lukaku has even made some big appearances and goals for the new manager. The midfield has seen tons of injury woes, but he seems to know his options with the back line and DeGea always solid in net. The arrival of Dalot to the world is finally happening so I think the right back position may very but Luke Shaw, Smalling, and Lindelof seem to have most of the coaches confidence.
I mean obviously Barcelona is going to win this game, but I am praying for a great performance from Manchester United. I would love to be wrong but all signs point to a Messi show in Old Trafford. I am hoping Pogba will learn to hate Barcelona and move to Madrid, because Messi and the boys are going to have themselves a day.
Barcelona 4 Manchester United 1
I really hate to call all these games like this I really am going to be rooting for some cup magic, but sometimes you gotta be realistic. Call me out if I am wrong on Twitter @Shopaaj.
