EPL Relegation/Promotion Solution

Alright people so hear me out, we got a ton of Corona Virus talk today and the only thing it is doing to me is giving me twisted ways to get the best football out of it. These ideas have been running through my head as far as making an underground league like Eric Cantona in the old Joga Bonito commercials by Nike.(Which I am still 100% on board with and would help host) There is a more realistic one that I have been thinking of as the fear of the virus hits England. I have a solution to make this season worth it for all the clubs in the Championship that have already played 37 f*cking games. Welcome to America we are talking English Football Playoffs baby.

Right now there is 9 games left in the season… a season that is over 40 games long. To not count the season would be an absolute travesty, and unfair to Leeds United who I need to see in the Premier League again. What I am offering is fair to everyone because yes you don’t know how the rest of the season would of went, however in the circumstances you will not find a more fair way for this to go down.

The top 6 currently from the Championship is as follows:

Now usually they would all qualify for the promotion possibilities, mine is the same way. However, 2nd place (West Brom) would not get the automatic bid only 1st place (Leeds United) would qualify for promotion. With West Brom not getting automatic promotion it opens up a 2nd free spot for promotion. There we have 5 teams ready to battle it out for the final spot in the EPL next season. Other part to this is the bottom 4 in the Premier League currently which is as follows:

Now this might be harsh since Watford is tied on points with West Ham, but just keep rolling with me. Rather than 17th place (Watford) getting put into the Premier League they would be dropped down with 18th, 19th, and 20th place to the play off with the Championship sides. This adds a 3rd Premier League spot for next season up for grabs. With 9 teams and 3 spots to get promoted we would get an insane competition.

9 teams would then do a bracket style playoff to get the final two spots in the Premier League for next season. The seeds would go as followed:

1. West Brom (2nd Place)

2. Watford (17th Place)

3. Bournemouth (18th Place)

4. Aston Villa (19th Place)

5. Norwich (20th Place)

6. Fulham (3rd Place)

7. Brentford (4th Place)

8. Nottm Forest (5th Place)

9. Preston (6th Place)

The two teams that make it through the bracket will be promoted, and those two can play for the English Super Cup. Yes I just made a whole new F*cking trophy for England. The English Super Cup (Patent Pending) created by Young Leg. It is a giant golden pineapple on a kings staff about 6 feet tall. Just casual, also we would get a bronze medal game from the semi finals to take the final promotion spot. Imagine losing twice to get promotion in a row that the kind of heart break that just makes for great television. Feed me playoffs, feed me penalty shootouts, and people crying on the field. Now I know it is March and we just lost the NCAA Tourney to Corona Virus, but tell me this isn’t the most beautiful idea and I will call you a liar. I hope you see this England FA because you need to figure this out. Also for the people thinking he just did all this so Leeds would definitely go to the Premier League next season… I am glad you are catching on. (Pretend I winked at you right there)
