The Top 4

Barcelona takes the top of the table with a very tight one against Real Sociedad. After a back and forth first half with very little for either side. The second half was what we came to see VAR being used in the most bizarre ways possible. After a Messi stomp happened early in the first half we would finally see a goal in the 81st minute. It came off a controversial penalty, but who else but Messi to put an end to the match. Great chances for Sociedad down the stretch, but Barcelona finished on top.

Barcelona 1, Real Sociedad 0. 54% – 46%  Shots 12(6) -7(1)

Real Madrid dropped to 2nd place after losing 2-1 to Real Betis. After a very rough first half of football, Sidnei finally made the break through off of an absolute rifle to the near post, nothing for Courtois to do about it. Benzema would answer it with a penalty at the stroke of half to make it 1-1 heading back to the locker room. After using a suspect lineup, Zidane also made some suspect substitutions. Cristian Tello was the super sub for Betis as he got the winner in the 82nd minute, Benzema with a dreadful turnover to give Betis the break. Madrid couldn’t come back and give the crown to Barcelona once again this season.

Real Betis 2, Real Madrid 1. 43% – 57% Shots 9(3) 12(4)

Sevilla are sitting in 3rd after a 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid. Luuk de Jong got the goals started for Sevilla in the 19th minute, only to be answered from the spot by Morata in the 32nd. Joao Felix would get the lead for Atletico 4 minutes later to continue his hot form. Lucas Ocampos the eventual man of the match would get the equalizer in the 43rd minute from the penalty spot. We go into halftime we a 4 goal thriller already to have a goalless 2nd half. A very poor shooting day for both sides as all chances were leading to this match being a game of the year candidate. Ends as a draw!

Atletico 2, Sevilla 2. 45% – 55% Shots 13(3) 8(4)

Getafe are sitting in 4th place after a 0-0 draw with relegation threatened Celta Vigo. This point actually saved them from the relegation zone. Chance after chance for Getafe and they just couldn’t put it away. After 16 chances against a bottom 4 team, with a defensive team controlling possession Getafe needed to put the game away. If they hope to stay in that Champions League spot they will need to get more points against these teams.

Getafe 0, Celta Vigo 0. 56% – 44% Shots 15(6) – 3(2)

Here is our top 4.

Atletico Madrid have conceded 21 goals in their 27 matches this year. A stat they are not used to being on the low side of. With Jan Oblak in net, and Diego Simeone’s tactics will he have the right men for the job to help them compete?

Ronaldinho arrested in Paraguay for having a fake passport. The next headline for this is that his lawyer claimed ignorance to law. What make it even worse is I believe him after seeing Dinho’s mug shot in Paraguay.
